Appendant Masonic Bodies in El Salvador

The Scottish Rite and York Rite are active in El Salvador under the Cuscatlán jurisdiction. The Supreme Council of the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite for El Salvador is a sovereign national body governing the higher degrees independently of the US Scottish Rite jurisdictions, consistent with the pattern throughout Latin America. Scottish Rite Valleys are active in San Salvador, with the higher degree tradition tracing its roots to the liberal reform era of the 1870s.
York Rite bodies — Royal Arch Chapters, Cryptic Councils, and Knights Templar Commanderies — operate in El Salvador, principally in San Salvador. The York Rite arrived in El Salvador alongside the Blue Lodge tradition in the reform era, and remains an active component of the Salvadoran Masonic landscape.
Shriners International is represented in El Salvador through Anezeh Shrine Temple, based in Houston and covering Mexico and Central America. Salvadoran Shriners support the Shriners Children's hospital network, with the Mexico City facility serving as the nearest Shriners Children's referral center for the region.
El Salvador is a member of COMACA (Central American Masonic Confederation), which coordinates Masonic relations across the isthmus and provides a regional framework for appendant body events and inter-jurisdictional contacts. Allied bodies including the Order of the Eastern Star are active in El Salvador's lodge communities. Visiting Masons should confirm they are attending a lodge under the UGLE-recognized Grand Lodge Cuscatlán, not the irregular Grand Orient of El Salvador, and should seek the same confirmation before any appendant body visit.
